In the Paleo-Hebrew, Aramaic, and Early Square Script
- ✅ Circumcision (מוּל / mul) was a physical sign of the eternal covenant Yhwh made with Abraham.
📖 Genesis 17:10–14
“Every male among you shall be circumcised… it shall be a sign of the covenant… throughout your generations.”
Anyone uncircumcised was cut off — not part of Yhwh’s people.
❌ In the Greek Septuagint (250–150 BC)
- Circumcision is translated as περιτομή (peritomē)
- But the Greek mindset spiritualized obedience.
- “Circumcision of the heart” was elevated above the physical command.
- This twisted the meaning — making it seem like the external act didn’t matter.
🔄 This paved the way for Paul’s later teaching
“He is a Jew who is one inwardly… circumcision is of the heart.” — Romans 2:29
⚠️ But that’s not what Yhwh said in Genesis.
- ⚠️ That’s not what the Hebrew scrolls taught.
- ⚠️ And that’s not what the priests at the Temple ever taught.
🔥 Bottom Line
Paul used the Greek Septuagint to:
- Downplay physical circumcision
- Undermine Yhwh’s covenant sign
- Teach a new gospel never accepted by the Hebrew followers of Yeshua.
