YHWH Never Commanded Solomon’s Temple

The Hebrew Scriptures (Paleo-Hebrew ~1430 BC, Aramaic ~600–500 BC, Early Square Script ~400–200 BC) reveal YHWH never commanded a permanent temple. Solomon’s temple was man’s idea, allowed because David desired it, but not YHWH’s plan. It became corrupted, used for sin, not holiness, and YHWH judged it.

🛑 Solomon’s temple was compromise, not covenant.

The Truth

1. YHWH Never Asked for a Temple

הֲכִי אָמַרְתִּי... לָמָּה לֹא־בְנִיתֶם לִי בֵּית אֲרָזִים (Hakhi amarti… lammah lo-venitem li beit arazim – Did I ever speak… saying, Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?)
Paleo-Hebrew/Early Script: “Did I ever speak… saying, ‘Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?’” (2 Samuel 7:7)

YHWH allowed it because David desired it—but He never commanded it. Solomon’s temple was man’s idea, not YHWH’s.

2. Solomon Was Already Compromised

וַיֶּאֱהַב שְׁלֹמֹה נָשִׁים נָכְרִיּוֹת רַבּוֹת... וַיַּטּוּ נָשָׁיו אֶת־לְבָבוֹ (Vaye’ehav Shelomoh nashim nokhriyot rabbot… vayattu nashav et-levavo – Solomon loved many foreign women… and his wives turned his heart)
Early Square Script: “Solomon loved many foreign women… and his wives turned his heart after other gods.” (1 Kings 11:1–4)

Built shrines for Molech, Chemosh, Ashtoreth. Did evil in YHWH’s sight. Never returned to full obedience.

3. The Levite Priesthood Was Corrupted

Solomon appointed priests for his temple—many not chosen by YHWH. Later kings and priests sacrificed children in high places and valleys.

Early Square Script: “They have built the high places… to burn their sons in the fire for burnt offerings to Baal, which I did not command, nor did it come into My heart.” (Jeremiah 19:5)

The temple became corruption, not holiness.

4. YHWH Forbids Human Sacrifice

Torah commands repentance, not human blood. “The soul that sins, it shall die” (Ezekiel 18:20)—no substitute.

Early Square Script: Solomon’s system twisted justice, mixing YHWH with pagan blood rites.

Human sacrifice forbidden (Deuteronomy 18:10).

5. Solomon Walked Away from YHWH

Early Square Script: “YHWH was angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away…” (1 Kings 11:9)

The kingdom split after him—a clear sign of YHWH’s judgment.

YHWH’s Way vs Solomon’s Way

✅ YHWH’s Way ❌ Solomon’s Way
Tabernacle in tents (mobile) Permanent temple of stone
Torah-obedient Pagan wives & gods
No child sacrifice Allowed Molech worship
Prophets sent by YHWH Priests appointed by man
No command to build temple Temple built by political will

Final Truth

The Hebrew Scriptures show YHWH never commanded Solomon’s temple—it was man’s idea, corrupted by sin, and judged by YHWH. His plan was a mobile tabernacle and a direct relationship through obedience, not stone buildings or pagan rites. The temple system ended for a reason; YHWH dwells among His people in humility and Torah-obedience.

🧾 Obedience. Humility. Walking with YHWH. That was always the plan.
